“This farm is our future" Meet Chhaiya, a mother and a farmer.

In Thmei village, Pursat province, 27-year-old Ven Chhaiya starts her mornings early, tending to her land, caring for livestock, and planning for more. A mother of three and a full-time farmer alongside her husband, Chhaiya’s days are full and often demanding. But today, they’re also full of promise.

Her journey began with a simple need: to grow more, earn more, and secure her family's future. In 2023, Chhaiya received her first loan from MAXIMA Microfinance—$2,000 that gave her the chance to buy essential supplies and kick-start her vision for a better farm. By 2024, she was on her second loan cycle, which helped her purchase farmland and animal feed to expand operations.

With MAXIMA’s accessible service and fair pricing, Chhaiya felt confident to take bigger steps. Through the Pasio community, she learned about smart feeding practices, seasonal market demand, and how to sell at better prices.

As her farm began to grow, so did her income. She began promoting her products on Pasio’s Online Shop, gaining visibility and becoming more creative with her offerings. With each cycle, she’s not just improving her yield—she’s improving her confidence.

We asked Chhaiya what she’s most proud of, she said it’s being able to support her family better and think ahead for their future. From once making ends meet to now saving for the future, her farm has become a foundation for stability.

Her story is one of steady determination—proof that with the right support, even the most humble fields can yield powerful change.
